*BALÈTIS (folk dance):

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Our highly varied folk dance covers all types of Occitania (Southern France) folk dance (bourrées from the Auvergne and Ariège regions, the Bearnais sauts and branles, rigadoons, 2/4 and 6/8 rondos, branlous, etc.), including of course waltzes, polkas and marzurkas, in the styles of their respective home soils. Naturally we don't neglect the non-Occitania dances: Circassian rounds, 2-bar bourrées, fandangos, arin-arin, two-step, maraîchines, tex-mex repertoire, etc.    *to listen all the tunes, move the vertical black curser.

'Québ’oc’ folk dance: We also propose Quebecois contra dances, with a 'caller' (someone who explains the steps during the dance), with a half-day workshop on demand. These dances from 'Belle Province', led by the sound of the melodeon, are particularly festive and enjoyable: all that is needed to take part is to be able to walk and know left from right!

*CONCERTS:

We offer a choice of three concerts:

'Lengadoc als quatre vents' concert: everything which made our region: troubadour sirventés, 'regrets' in which the oboe is king, joust and Camargue bull melodies, and those of the carnival ('fecas" from Limoux), dances and laments from the Black Mountain, a homage to Trenet and Brassens, without forgetting the rythms of Spain or Italy, whose immigrants also made the Languedoc region.
Musical clips: go to the 'CDs / Shop' page.

'Corne d'Aur'oc' concert: a unique opportunity to hear songs of the Hérault troubadour, Georges Brassens, in the Occitania language, and more particularly in the dialect from Eastern Languedoc, accompanied by traditional instruments (oboe, Languedoc bagpipe...). CD available from 'Aura Producccions'.
Musical clips: go to the 'CDs / Shop' page.

'Nadal occitan' concert: to give this time of the year a magical feeling, at the time of the Provence and Languedoc Christmas songs, from classics (la camba me fai mau, la marche des rois, pastres pastretas) to other less well-known, with the oboe, bodega (Languedoc bagpipe), accordion, frestèu (Camargue pan pipe), and guitar. With the public participation: printed lyrics provided.

NB: all concerts may be followed by dances.

OCCITÀNIA saluda BOLIVIA...

Our aim is to support and encourage all popular and traditional music practices. To that end, we reach out the hand towards Quebec (cf 'Balèti, folk dance'), but also towards Latin America. We also organise regular meetings accompanied by bolivian guitarist Julio Godoy, in collaboration with Yves La Gabrielle, from the group 'Au pied levé'. Several passionate people about Andean music, and especially Bolivian music, get together for a few days to prepare a concert. Here are some photos of the last evening where we met in november 2006, in Aniane (room of the CCAS), with 'Los amigos del sur'.

NEXT 'ANDEAN NIGHT': NOVEMBER 2010
